A Vectorizer.AI alternative, compared honestly.

Vectorizer.AI is a well-known paid vectorizer built on deep learning. pic2svg is a deterministic tracer with free SVG downloads. Here is what each one does, with the source and date behind every claim about Vectorizer.AI, and the cases where it is the better pick. The converter on this page is ours, so you can try it on your own image first.

Is pic2svg a good Vectorizer.AI alternative?

If you want an SVG without paying, yes: on pic2svg tracing, preview and the SVG download are free and need no account, while Vectorizer.AI previews free and charges to download. The engines differ: Vectorizer.AI describes deep-learning networks plus classical algorithms and accepts images up to 3 megapixels; pic2svg traces with the open-source vtracer library at about 0.6 megapixels on its hosted site. We have not measured Vectorizer.AI's output, so for detailed artwork compare its free preview with ours on your own image before you pay for either.

Transparent areas become white shapes, and larger images are scaled down to about 0.6 megapixels before tracing.

Other formats, plans and licences

PDF, EPS, AI (EPS-based) and DXF come with a paid plan, and every new account gets 7 days of Pro free. The free plan and Starter carry a personal-use licence; commercial use needs Pro, and resale needs Advanced — see the licence row on the pricing page.

When is Vectorizer.AI the better choice?

No tool wins every job. These are the cases where its published capabilities go further than ours.

  • Large, detailed artwork

It accepts images up to 3 megapixels; our hosted converter scales everything to about 0.6 megapixels before tracing, so fine detail in a big image is lost here before the trace starts.

  • You need an API

It sells API credits for volume. pic2svg's trace API returns SVG only and allows 50 traces per client a day by default.

  • Shape fitting matters more than price

Its deep-learning approach is built to fit clean shapes. We have not measured how its output compares with ours, so try its free preview on your hardest image.

When is pic2svg the better choice?

Where our published terms and engine behaviour suit the job better.

  • You need the SVG and nothing else

The SVG download is free and needs no account; you pay only for PDF, EPS, AI (EPS-based) and DXF. See the pricing page.

  • An AI file or a TIFF scan

Our exports include AI, which Vectorizer.AI does not list, and the engine reads TIFF uploads directly; see TIFF to SVG.

  • Repeatable results

The engine is deterministic: the same uploaded image on the same preset gives the same SVG every time, which helps when a trace has to match an earlier one.

  • Several images at once

After a free sign-in you can trace up to 12 images in one batch.

Vectorizer.AI alternative questions

Is there a free alternative to Vectorizer.AI?
pic2svg traces, previews and downloads SVG for free, with no account and no per-image fee. PDF needs Starter or higher, and EPS, AI and DXF need Pro or Advanced.
Does pic2svg use AI?
No machine-learning model is involved: vtracer groups the image's colours into layers and fits paths around them. Your image is traced on pic2svg's own server and is not sent to any third-party AI service or vectorizer.
Which one gives better results?
We have not measured Vectorizer.AI's output, so we cannot say. Both preview for free: run the same image through each and compare the paths before paying. Our guide on how to check if an SVG is a real vector helps you inspect either file.
Can I cancel pic2svg like a Vectorizer.AI subscription?
Yes. pic2svg plans are monthly or yearly and can be cancelled at any time from the pricing page; access continues to the end of the period you paid for. Our benchmarks page also compares Vector Magic.
