Questions people actually ask

Is this really a vector?
Yes. The file contains editable vector paths rather than an embedded raster image, so it can be opened and changed in standard vector software.
Where does my image go?
Your browser uploads it to pic2svg's own server (api.pic2svg.com), where our engine traces it; no third-party converter receives it. The temporary file is deleted when the trace finishes. If a trace fails partway, the file can remain in the server's temporary folder until that folder is cleared; it is never copied elsewhere or backed up. If you create a share link, the traced vector and a small JPEG preview of your original image are stored on our server and shown to anyone with the link, until you ask us to remove them.
How large an image can I trace?
The converter traces at about 0.6 megapixels: larger images are scaled down in your browser before upload. If the browser cannot decode a file, the original is sent instead and must stay under about 45 MB and 16 megapixels.
Is conversion free?
Tracing, previewing and SVG download are free. Paid plans cover production formats such as PDF, EPS, AI and DXF. The free plan and Starter carry a personal-use licence; commercial use needs Pro, and resale needs Advanced — see the licence row on the pricing page.
Do I need an account to download the SVG?
No. Drop an image, check the preview and download the SVG without signing up. An account is needed for paid formats and for batch tracing.
Which image formats can I convert to SVG?
JPG, PNG, WEBP, TIFF, BMP, GIF and ICO. Transparent areas are flattened onto white before tracing, so the SVG contains filled background shapes where the original was transparent.
Does it work for photos as well as logos?
Both are accepted, and a small thumbnail decides how each is traced. Flat artwork that shows 48 or fewer quantized colors on a 256px preview becomes straight-edged polygons; photographic images follow a smooth-spline path. Logos, icons and flat illustrations give the cleanest result.
Can I edit the SVG in Illustrator, Figma or Inkscape?
Yes. The SVG is made of filled paths grouped by color, so you can select, recolor, move or delete shapes in any vector editor. For CAD software, export DXF from the same trace.
